In the 18th century a great number of veneers of different colors were used: mahagony, cashew, peach, brasil, red ebony, bio de Campèche, red sandalwood, rosewood, cherry, plum, King's wood, amaranth, boxtree, linden, acacia, lemon, palisander, olive, jacaranda, walnut, black ebony, green ebony, bog oak, aloe, gayac, plane, ébène blanche, apple. To produce less common colors wood was stained with various organic and inorganic solutions, such as dyes for textiles or sulfates of iron and copper. -- AATA
