Abstract
During the removal of corrosion layers from medieval glass windows by means of chemicals, there is the risk of damaging the original glass. Successful use was made of a cold saturated ammonium sulfate solution (NH<sub>4</sub>)* l2*sSO<sub>4</sub> to remove corrosion layers containing a lot of calcium sulfate from the windows of the Erfurt cathedral. The execution of the procedure is described in detail.
