Many obsidian implements are found in typical Paleolithic sites (Hirooya, Nakamiyo I, Nakamiyo II, and Nakamiyo III) in the Ashitaka sport park, Numazu, Shizuoka prefecture. The bed bearing obsidian implements belongs to the upper member of the Ashitaka loam formation. Obsidian implements were analyzed for sodium, magnesium, aluminum, silicon, potassium, calcium, titanium, and iron by the energy-dispersive microanalyzer technique, and crystallite types were also examined. Based on the former data the provenance of these obsidian was assigned to Wada-Tohge and Tadeshina. The crystallite type adds two further sources, Hatajuku and Kashiwa-Tohge. -- AATA
