Faculty, staff and student archaeologists from the University of New Mexico and New Mexico State University have experimented with the use of a variety of computers, computer programs, and computerized equipment in a field context. A number of lessons learned are presented concerning the application to archaeology of the Kaypro II and NEC computers, bar code reader, proton magnetometer, laser transit, and digital scales and calipers. Major logistical and analytical advantages can be realized by the effective and efficient utilization of this equipment. -- AATA
