Abstract
Up to now mass spectra of ambers have not been analyzed. In order to identify the fragments in the amber mass spectra, the paper considers the mass spectra of abietic acid and diabietic acid. The interpretation of the mass spectra of amber is held to support the author's view that Baltic amber is a diabetic acid derivative. See also <i>AATA</i> <b>23-2786</b>. -- AATA
