The circular mirror with a handle in the center of the reverse which is known as the Chinese type due to its wide distribution in China in the 7th and 6th centuries BC, probably developed in Southern Siberia or Central Asia in the 2nd millenium BC. By the 7th century BC there were three types of Chinese mirror each with localized distribution -- flat with a simple loop handle; one with a raised rim around the edge of the back; one with a raised rim and handle composed of two posts topped by a plaque. -- AATA
