Abstract
Six crucibles from the Petrie Collection, University College, London, are described and illustrated. X-ray fluorescence analysis of slags from the crucibles is reported briefly. Archaeological, historical, and philological evidence is also used to help determine the manufacture, use, and significance of the crucibles. The crucibles seem to have been used in the production of copper and tin bronzes, except for one which may have been used for precious metals. -- AATA
