Abstract
The activities and aims of the Art Hazards Information Centre in New York are discussed. In 1986, hundreds of art materials will be labeled according to standards adopted voluntarily by major manufacturers (ASTM D4 236). History of legislation in several U.S. states is traced. Monona Rossol, Michael McCann, and Joy Turner Luke are interviewed and quoted about toxicity and labeling. Manufacturing pioneers in safety are cited. -- AATA
