Abstract
At the University of Oxford, a new dating technique uses particle acceleration in conjunction with a mass spectrometer to permit counting Carbon-14 atoms directly, instead of measuring their decay rate. This could soon lead to doubling the range and halving the error margin of conventional dating. At present, the primary advantage of the new technique is that the sample size required is 1, 000 times smaller. -- AATA
