Abstract
A costume accessory is an item that is worn with a costume but that is not necessarily part of the costume itself. Accessories are usually stored on shelves or in drawers (see CCI Notes 13/2, Flat Storage for Textiles) and with some form of interior support. The items selected below to illustrate storage methods for accessories are typical of those found in most costume collections. Recommended support materials are unbuffered, acid-free (neutral pH) tissue paper, polypropylene foam suchioning (Microfoam), polyethylene foam cushioning (Ethafoam, Polyfoam), or washed unbleached cotton.
