Abstract
The objective of our research is to demonstrate the possibilities of using glass microspheres as a filler in proteinbased binders for their use in the restoration of wood sculptures. The methodology is based on a comparative study of fillers used for consolidation in Brazil. The experiments have mainly used the same filler used in the acrylic resin Paraloid B72® dissolved in Xylene (currently used widely by the restorers). The research analysed its behaviour and characteristics: binding power, humidity absorption, preparation, application methods and advantages or disadvantages in its use.
