Recent analyses, some reported here by the author, and reassessment of early works strongly suggest glass was made and worked in Europe, with the alpine region of north Italy or Switzerland being strong contenders. Two main glass compositions are found, a low magnesium high potassium type which is believed to have been made in Europe and high magnesia soda-lime-silica glass which could be imported from the Near East. -- AATA
