Abstract
Earlier this year, a BBC television series dived into the regions where underwater archaeology fades into the murkier waters of treasure hunting. This article reviews an archaeologist's account of his role in the richest of recent recoveries, the gold from the Spanish galleon Atocha. It critically discusses the problems of archaeology/conservation when working with treasure hunters, based on a review of the book by the archeologist concerned: * 2Treasure of the Atocha: sixteen dramatic years in search of the historic wreck* 1. -- AATA
