Abstract
Shipibo pottery presents a number of conservation problems. It is very thin walled and fired at a low temperature, while to provide waterproofing the interiors of vessels are coated with natural resin. In this paper, techniques are described for reflowing the resin in areas of loss using ethanol or shellac, reassembling fragmented vessels with a baker's gelatin adhesive, infilling with Keramiplast modelling clay, and inpainting with watercolors.
