Fossilized tree trunks are frequently petrified and can be in excellent condition. We are aware of petrified woods in several localities. Sometimes we have only the less durable imprints of trees. The author demonstrates the preservation of the morphology of tree trunks from the Carboniferous period. RTV silicone rubber copies were made of the imprints of plants. The copies can be very useful for scientific examination as well as demonstration pieces at exhibitions. -- AATA
