The following were found to be ineffectual catalyzers of oxidative amino acids with deamination at pH 6 to 8: Hydroquinone, P-quinone, protocatechnic acid, pyrogallol, phloroglucin, and homogentisin acid. However, they did prove to be effectual, if only weakly at pH 9 to 12. Resorcin was at pH 9 to 12, which yielded up to 50% of the possible glycolic-NH3 output.
