Adults of the confused flour beetle, Tribolium confusum Jacquelin duVal; larvae of the black carpet beetle, Attagenus megatoma (F.); and larvae of Trogoderma inclusum LeConte were exposed to 15 promising insecticides applied as aerosols and dusts in tractor trailers. Insect mortality varied depending on species tested, insecticidal formulation, and length of exposure. Most of the candidate insecticides were equally or more effective against the insects than the standard treatment (42.5% DDT, 1,1,1- trichloro-2, 2-bis(p-chloropheyl)ethane + 42.5% carbaryl, 1-naphthyl methylcarbamate); however, none of the formulations were considered promising for use as quarantine-type treatments against stored- product insects.
