Bulk quantities of wheat infested with rice weevils, Sitophilus oryzae (L. ), and lesser grain borers, Rhyzopertha dominica (F.), were exposed to infrared radiation that raised the temperature of the wheat to a maximum of 48.6 degrees C. After 24 hr., 93 and 99% of the lesser grain borers and rice weevils, respectively, had been killed.
