Abstract
There are a large number of wooden objects, mostly from the sphere of primitive races, with colors applied without binders. These colors may intermix by the mere touch of the objects. According to the Bauer-Koller method, a mixture of three substances, for the consolidation of the colors, was recommended. The three substances are: animal glue, a gelatine; tragacanth, a plant gum; and cellulose, in a formula of l to 1 to 1/2. The substance was applied by a repeated spreading over. The multitude of procedures required a speedier process. A spray-gun was tried. However, the mixture was too thick; when thinned, it was not as effective. A compressor-sprinkler was tried with a high pressure spray gun attached. The three, very proven, substances were retained, but in a modified mixture in a formula of 0.5 to 0.3 to 5. More than four dozen wooden objects have been sprayed satisfactorily at this time.
