Abstract
Dendroglaciology provides a means of reconstructing the history of past glacier fluctuations over periods of several hundred years in various parts of the world. The technique has not yet been fully developed and a considerable amount of work is required on its methodology. Norway represents a suitable environment for examining the technique in view of the detailed glaciological records and the past history of tree-ring work. A sampling network of over 40 sites has been established using Pinus sylvestris L. The potential of these for dendroglaciological studies is currently being examined in detail.
