Abstract
Color emanates from the optical interference of reflective light onto laminated films. The film is composed of an oriented polymer film, a polarizing film, and a reflective film acting as a mirror. The color is metallic because any direct light on the film is reflected by a thin aluminum film laminated on the back. Also, the color seen changes subtly in accord with the angle of the view, which creates the phenomenon of iridescence, notably in transition types of laminated films.
