Abstract
The Temple of Indochinese Memories was originally a <i>dinh</i>, which is a community house in a Vietnamese village; in the beginning of this century it was brought to France to be exhibited at two colonial exhibitions organized in Marseilles in 1906 and Nogent-sur-Marne in 1907. As the only Asian monument of Europe, it should have received exceptional care but was neglected due to government apathy. It was consumed by fire in April 1984. The analysis of this painful story is a challenge to caretakers of the national patrimony.
