Abstract
Deals with the architecture of the stilt houses found on the shores of Lake Maracaibo, Venezuela, whose uniqueness resides not only in the coherence of its design with the climate but also in the fact that it has become a model which lasted from the times prior to the Spanish Conquest to modern times. At present, these settlements are in acute need of conservation.
