Abstract
Analyses of corrosion products of bronze sculptures and statues involved mineralogy, using x-ray diffraction (XRD), and chemistry, using PY-GC and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). Gypsum, copper, and calcium oxalates are the main components, together with organic materials. The origin of copper oxalate is related to a cleaning operation with oxalic acid.
