Abstract
Mass spectrometers' resolution and sensitivity have been improved in recent years to the point where they can supply more structural information than ever before. The organic chemist now has the opportunity to use all of the information put out by mass spectrometer, x-ray diffractometer, and other analytical instruments, particularly where their outputs are needed in real time. Most of this instrumentation is now considered to be rather routine. The new mass spectrometer data system with its tremendous ability for data handling and interpretation is more, soon-to-be- routine package that even the most modest research laboratory can no longer afford to be without.
