Besides eliminating the use of high temperature and heavy pressure, the Indian hand process of hand lamination with cellulose acetate improves upon the classical process of reinforcement of paper--silking and tissue reinforcement with starch or dextrine paste--for it 1) gives better legibility, 2) does not increase the likelihood of insect attack, 3) is suitable for the repair of documents with seals, and 4) is suitable for reuniting documents that are in several pieces
