Abstract
An oak tree-ring chronology spanning 1274-1979 has been completed for northern France using timbers from living trees and historic buildings mainly in the Loire Valley. The process of chronology construction in a new area is illustrated and the chronology is presented to assist with dating in the area and to form the basis for the construction of other regional chronologies in France.
