Abstract
Cu, Pb, and Sn were determined by x-ray fluorescence analysis in 8 standard bronzes and 5 ancient bronze objects of 8th century B.C. 13th century A.D. origin. A <sup>147</sup>Pm-Al source (45 mCi; bremstrahlung spectrum), a Xe-filled gas proportional counter (Be window thickness 0.5 mm), standard electronic equipment, and a 400-channel analyzer were used. The bronze surface was clean; the analyzed area was 5-10 cm<sup>2</sup> ( ~ 100mu thick). The concentrations were determined by normalizing the spectrum area between channels No. 1 and 199 at 10<sup>5</sup> counts. -- AATA
