Abstract
The literary sources on media identification in cross-sections are reviewed. A method of media identification is suggested. It consists of the selection of a pair of contrast histochemical stains one of which discriminately dyes proteins, the other lipids. The following pair was chosen in the course of the experimental work: coomassie red for protein (pink) and Sudan black B for lipids (blue). This method makes it possible to differentiate proteinaceous media, oils, and yolk. -- AATA
