Microchemical spot tests for identifying different types of binding media are reviewed. Some recently developed tests are suggested (for gelatin and hydrocarbons). The method of analysis is delineated: 1) identification of proteins, 2) the identification of casein of gelatin, 3) the identification of oils and hydrocarbons.
