Abstract
Steatite, serpentinite and chlorite are widely distributed stone types that have often been made into artifacts. The theory behind identifying source deposits by using the rare earth element concentrations as a tracer is described, as is the neutron activation method of measuring the concentrations. Lithic sarnples for analysis are now sought from archaeologists. -- AATA
