Abstract
The author examines products for treatment of stone as they find increasing application in the conservation and restoration of historic monuments. Attempts to consolidate stone in depth generally result in failure. In conclusion, he proposes surface protection to screen against: rainwater, atmospheric pollution, wind, etc., which would not create dangerous dis continuity in the interior of stone. -- AATA
