Abstract
Technical examinations which are appropriate for analyzing plaster surfaces are discussed. X-ray diffraction was used to analyze the pigments in a Roman painted plaster and these are identified. Techniques are also applicable to pottery, brick, and tile. The stones of Brixworth Church are mentioned.
