The causes of corrosion of sedimentary rocks, especially of sandstone are discussed. The problem of marble and arenaceous marl is also briefly mentioned. A general discussion of hardening and cleaning methods is given with critical comments. The use of synthetic polymers from the point of view of chemical structure, form and methods of their application is emphasized. -- AATA
