This paper describes the analysis of fragments of Roman glass from seven archaeological sites in western France by electron microprobe, to study provenance and homogeneity. The careful use of additives such as sodium, manganese oxide, and aluminum oxide to produce both window glass and decorative glass is discussed. The compositions were indicative of the Saintes workshop.
