Investigates current practices, cleaning and repairs techniques, exhibition, standards, and the general guiding principles regarding the care of oriental rugs in Europe. The study is based on 22 site visits to conservation facilities in both museums and private ateliers throughout Europe. Covers: early carpet treatment procedures; treating carpets before exhibition; stabilization techniques; exhibition techniques; and research in carpet analysis and conservation.
