765 abstracts from publications by some 450 authors in Europe and the USA were collected under the following headings: Recovery (61 ref.); Restoring and preservation (glass, ceramics, metals, mosaics, murals, stone, masonry, marble, tissues, wood, bone and ivory, leather, bog corpses, papyrus and parchment; 451 ref.); Reproductions and replicas (128 ref.); Properties of materials (solvents, synthetics, varnishes, fats, waxes; 46 ref.); Comprehensive and reference books (69 ref.); addenda (10 ref.). A considerable number of these abstracts, mainly dating from 1900 to 1959, have already appeared in <i>IIC Abstracts. -- AATA
