Abstract
Dendrochronology in Northern Europe has a long tradition. In the last fifteen years its development has accelerated considerably, and its range and number of applications have increased. This paper reviews the situation of dendrochronology in Europe and elucidates its potential for archaeological research with some examples from Southern Scandinavia and Northern Germany.
