An 18th-century chasuble from Western Europe was constructed of half silk cloth, i.e., silk warp with cotton filling. Previous conservation by traditional sewing methods was carried out in the late 19th or early 20th century. After disassembly the consolidation method was chosen for conservation because of the fragility of the existing silk warp. The Swiss acrylic Lascaux, a 50/50 mixture of HV360 and HW498, was used as consolidant, with a support of 50% cotton and 50% plain weave chintz. -- AATA
