Damage and disfigurement can result from uncontrolled drying of textiles after wet treatment due to movement of soils, impurities and degradation products, stiffness associated with stains, dye bleed, and brown line staining of cellulosic fabrics. Factors that affect drying behavior are: fiber content, processing, and diameter; fabric structure, finish, and use; and physical factors at the time of drying, such as environmental temperature and pH, air movement, and blotting materials used.
