The National Trust has compiled a directory of staffed local preservation organizations. This directory is part of a National Trust initiative to enhance the effectiveness of community preservation efforts by broadening the constituency and increasing the strength and cohesiveness of the nationwide preservation movement. This initiative focuses on both state and local organizations. The Local Initiatives Program is designed to promote and expand the capacity of local groups, to increase thier access to information, training, and funding, and to provide opportunities for increased collaboration between the National Trust and grass-roots organizations.
