Abstract
The effectiveness of impregnation of a porous stone with a resin in solution is determined by the processes of migration of the macro-molecules into the pore network and their interaction with the mineral surfaces. These factors have been investigated in the case of a medium molecular weight poly(vinyl acetate). The limiting factor is precipitation of the polymer as the solution enters the stone.
