Abstract
The heating histories of hearths in the Willandra Lakes Region is reexamined by palaeomagnetism. In addition, some preliminary results from a new archaeological and palaeomagnetic sampling program are presented. The results are compared with direct observations made on an experimental hearth, and with ethnographic descriptions.
