Abstract
In the State Archives of Goa, India, documents which had been repaired 50-60 years ago using conservation techniques then available were found to have become acidic and brittle. Conservation of such documents required the removal of the starch paste used earlier. This was facilitated by the use of certain enzymes; this article describes the application of such enzymes.
