Abstract
Fragments of silk samite were traced to an Antinoe silk dating from the 5th century. The fabric, which was probably Iranian, was used in a Persian riding coat. A bird design indicates that the fragment was part of a band applied as decoration. The red silk on which the decoration appears was found with traces of sewing typical of decorations used in Persian garments.
