Abstract
Reports two fragments of an item of ecclesiastical metalwork found near Ludlow contain 99.3% zinc. Unless it is a late copy of a Romanesque piece, the object suggests a need to look for other early uses of zinc, which could have been brought in from Asia as early as the 12th century.
