Abstract
The preliminary results of the analysis of phenylthiohydantoin--amino acid derivatives for protein identification are encouraging. Casein, albumin and animal collagen can be easily distinguished. Modifications to the preparation procedure are necessary to reduce degradation during acid hydrolysis, to eliminate the reaction by-product that interferes with the quantitation of proline and to stabilize the prepared derivatives to prolong their storage life.
