Abstract
Energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence analyses were made on 544 pieces of the Sueware shards excavated from 62 kiln sites in Chuba district in order to trace the transportation of Sueware. Of the indicators characteristic of the producing district, it was found that K/Ca ratio was correlated with Rb/Sr ratio. On the (K/Ca- Rb/Sr) map, Sueware produced in the Chubu district were divided into three groups: the Nagoya, the Hamamtsu and the Nagano. The Fe content also divided them into two groups: the Nagano and the Tohkai. Using these results, the Sueware shards produced in Nagoya were found in both the Hiraide Site and the Takada Site in Shiojiri City, Nagano Prefecture. This procedure was also applied to the Yajoi pottery excavated from the Dairoku Site and the Angenji Tomb site. The results showed that they were produced near the site respectively.
