Abstract
This industry, sited on the edge of the Forest of Neroche in Somerset, is notable for its continuity (13th to 20th centuries) and its conservatism. Excavation of numerous kilns has yielded a very large quantity of pottery, catalogued as a type series (and including Donyatt material from the principal English museums). Specialist contributions treat the fuel supply, documents (inventories, land-holdings of potters, etc.), the magnetic survey, the experimental firings and reconstructions, the small finds, and the inscriptions. Decorative techniques, potter's materials, and distribution are all examined.
