To correct the inadequate storage of the Chilean museums, a system is advocated consisting of cardboard boxes as containers for artifacts. Design and materials are sturdy and simple; the cardboard acidity is low (pH 6-7). After six years of use, this storage system has been found effective against dust, light, and changes in temperature and relative humidity.
